Get Into Print

Hi! Welcome back. If there are topics you'd like me to cover, please submit them via the form on the Contact page. Don't forget to write a comment about the post. I'd enjoy hearing from you!

A while back, I wrote a series on generating publicity. One way to do that is being interviewed. Sure, there are radio and t.v. shows to help you get your 15 minutes of fame (and hopefully much more), but there are also online and print vehicles, such as magazine articles and books. That last one is what I’ll be writing about in this post.

Being featured in a book has some excellent benefits. You get a chance to demonstrate your expertise. It’s an endorsement of your credibility and value by the author. He or she wouldn’t have included you if they didn’t think your thoughts and comments were of value. Plus, being in a book expands your reach and puts your name in front of a lot of folks who otherwise may never had heard of you. Some of these folks might be in a position to hire you.

As a reader of my blog, you’re in luck … maybe. As it happens, I’m writing a book for Allworth Press. The working title is Starting Your Career As A Freelance Web Designer*. So, if you happen to be a freelance Web designer, I’d like to talk to you. Use the handy contact form here on my site to let me know you’re interested and I’ll send you a copy of my ridiculously long interview questionnaire. Here are some specifics:

  • You’re a freelancer, independent professional, solopreneur or other flavor of solo practitioner
  • You provide Web design services
  • You’re a professional
  • You’re new to freelancing or have been at it a while

If you meet the criteria, here’s your chance to have your name forever immortalized in print. Well … at least for the life of the book.

I look forward to hearing from you!

*The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon. You can find it at your local bookseller after September 1, 2011.
